Andrew Davidson
Andrew is a professional studio potter living and working in Dorset. He studied at Bournemouth College of Art & Design and currently teaches part-time at Canford School.
Early sources of inspiration include the work of Lucie Rie, Hans Coper and Ian Godfrey. Visits to Lucie Rie led tot he adoption of raw glazing and an abiding interest in a number of her techniques. Other influences vary from ancient to modern, and include artifacts of past cultures, worn by time. Journeys around the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East have further developed these influences.
Working in stoneware and porcelain Andrew makes one-off pieces like vases, bottles and bowls. Each group of work evolves from what has come before.
